BEAD CROCHET: Bead crochet is usually done in the round. Start your round as you normally would (chain 4 or 5, form into a circle, sc 7 or 8 stitches into the round OR start your circle with the magic loop method and sc 7 or 8 stitches into the loop).
To start crocheting with beads in the round: Insert hook into a sc from previous row. YO and draw through sc (2 loops on hook). Slide a bead up to the stitch, YO and pull thread through the 2 loops. The bead remains on the side of the work away from you. Continue like this.
The picture below shows the start of a bead crocheted purse, starting with 7 beads in the first round. By increasing 7 sc on each round, the work lies flat and increases in circumference.
